It is absolutely paramount that before you start promoting an affiliate program that you protect your links. Some people - I really don't know why - have the habit of severing links or avoid joining under an affiliate. This is extremely silly in my view, because all it does is allows the program operators and creators to keep all the money themselves without sharing with an affiliate. Products do not become cheaper by severing links, but some people do it any way. Usually you will find that these people are the ones who will never earn, because the internet programs are not designed for selfish people. It is more of a 'I scratch your back and you scratch mine' approach. So anyone who is really selfish just cannot break through.

However, this doesn't change the fact that if your links are severed, you will not earn anything. Only the program operators and creators will and in that case all your efforts will be in vain.
